what a job getting motor car insurance gone up from 1600 to 2500 in last couple months problem im having im getting qoutes of brokers but there all coming up with tradex no one else can compete with tradex 2500 any help please

Perhaps vehicle manufacturers started to realise they were building vehicles back in the early 2000's that were lasting too long, so they had to introduce ways of killing them off after a certain time.

Anything with a wet belt - fords and PSA, should be avoided. Nothing but issues, recalls, high cost repairs and premature engine failures. Whoever came up with the idea is a moron and whoever signed off on its adoption is even more so. Oil is supposed to provide a minuscule separation between 2 surfaces to lubricate and protect it while a belt is not supposed to be separated from the surface. This causes the belt to slap against the metal making it wear significantly quicker than a dry belt would. I’ve seen wet belt engines fail with less than 20k on the clock. Vauxhall engines pre-PSA were very good. For newer cars in general, stick to Japanese.

We are over 60 and we have owned a 5 bedroomed detatched house since we were 30. Mortgage paid off years ago. We have NEVER paid more than £11k for a non company car. My current car is a petrol hatch back that I bought for £600 a few years ago. Even if we threw it away today the depreciation would be only £200 per annum. I dont see how an EV will ever be cost effective

It could well be dementia or Alzheimer’s both of which come with confusion and aggression. On this occasion I would have refunded deposit as you’d easily have resold that car. Think how you’d feel if it was your parent. The non refundable deposit doesn’t sit will with me.

I been done by garage, return faulty car 3 days after purchase. Never got money back, went to court. Dealer got convicted and jailed. I get £4 /month from Crown Court 10 years on 😂

When I was younger I used to buy a car for a few hundred pounds, keep it for a couple of years, then if it got too expensive to fix or I couldn't do it myself, I'd scrap it, you don't see any for sale anymore.

The bloke who came in probably had Dementia my father inlaw is the same. Especially with phone calls ect, saying he hasn't received any. Also he is always going in car sales places because he is lonely and he likes a chat!. Maybe this customer seems the same to me anyway. You should look at at safe guarding rule that anyone who is above 70 years old can only buy a car if someone is there who is younger than them to stop this sort of problem

i purchased a used 2017 focus ecoboost from a ford dealership, it has missing service stamps is 38000 miles but i have had it serviced back at ford since i got it, would i miss out on this given the service history? even though they sold it to me with stamps missing!

Sounds like a communication problem. You have to get really calm and not talk at the same time when they’re on top note. Let them speak. No one takes in info when their emotions are so high. Let him come down to planet earth. When he’s level again. Try to explain simple points Eg you don’t issue MOTs before you’re sure the customer is taking the car to make sure they get 12 months. If he starts bawling again listen again. Takes time but they run out of steam. TBH I don’t envy you, the guy sounds old. Might have early Alzheimer’s. They get emotional very quickly and don’t grasp everything. Reminds me of my stepdad. Lost his rag with the phone company. Kicked off for about 30 mins, spoke to managers etc ranting and threatening them. He slammed the phone down. I think he realised he’d been arguing with the phone company about his ELECTRIC bill.
